Each Spring a batch of warm eggs arrives at Padbury Community Kindy in an incubator. We eagerly watch, wait and check on them each day. Eventually cracks started to form, and then we begin listening to quiet peeping noises coming from inside the eggs. Finally, fluffy chicks begin to emerge from their shells, and our classroom is filled with the sweet sound of chirping!

The kindy kids thoroughly enjoy this incursion every year – and they learn a lot too.

  • We explore other types of animals that lay eggs;
  • We learn about birth and the cycle of life;
  • We discover that by simply observing animals we can learn a lot about them;
  • And we are reminded of the need to treat animals – like people – with care and respect.

Keep an eye out for more eggs headed our way next Spring!
